Dear Mount Doug Community,
Welcome! We are so excited to be welcoming back past and new students to our school community. While the last year and a half have been challenging and far from normal we are looking forward to a wonderful 2021-2022 school year. We are pleased to welcome Nancy Archer as our new Vice Principal this year, coming from Lambrick Park Secondary.
We have been busy putting together the safety protocols, structures, and plans to protect the students and staff within our school community. The Ministry of Health has laid out a series of health and safety protocols to reduce the risk of communicable disease within schools. We will continue to be fluid and flexible as the needs change. It is important to be reminded that these safety plans are in place to ensure the health and safety of all students, staff, and families.
Health and Safety
Please see the complete district plan:

Students and staff must stay home if they are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19. It is the responsibility of parents to assess their students daily for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to sending them to school.

- Building air ventilation has been revised and updated as needed
Mental Health
Mental health education and support will be a focus for the school year. As a school community we will be completing the UBC Mental Health Literacy Program with monthly education sessions and learning. Please see the current district Snapshot for information, strategies, and resources. These will be sent home monthly.

Timetable Changes
If there is a problem with your timetable, please email your counsellor with the information and change request with reason for the change. They will work through their emails and call you from class to discuss as needed. Please attend all classes on your timetable so they can find you. Many of you may already be on waitlists if you did not get a requested course and counsellors will need time to work through these lists. Please be patient as they work through a large volume of requests and understand that any changes are subject to space and availability of the course.
