The Mount Douglas Secondary School Strings students worked extremely hard for their Spring performances. Their first performance was held on April 16th in the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival. The students played a wonderful piece called “Bailles para Orquesta” or Dances for Orchestra, by Richard Meyer. The students scored 94% in their performance. The Adjudicator, Mr. Norman Nelson, made the following comments:
“An intricate piece very convincingly performed – full of varied colours and dynamic contrast. The difficulties were overcome with aplomb, and the rhythmic interplay was no problem to you. This was a very fine performance and full of positive vibes. Congratulations to your teacher and all of you!”
The students also performed one movement from the “Brandenburg Concerto” by J. S. Bach and two movements from the “Brook Green Suite” by G. Holst with the School District 61 Festival Orchestra.
