Students seeking to transfer schools can start submitting applications on Thursday

We will have space in our grade 9 and 10 cohorts for new students to Mount Doug. Interested in considering Mount Doug as your new school for September 2018?

Students looking to attend a school other than their designated catchment school can start applying for a transfer beginning this week. The annual K-12 Student Transfer Process that facilitates requests from students to transfer schools starts on Thursday, February 15, 2018.

To apply for a transfer request parents and guardians must provide all required documentation and complete a form at the student’s current school between February 15—23, 2018. The required documentation includes proof of residency. For more information on what documents to bring to the school, please visit: www.sd61.bc.ca/parent-student-resources/registration/documentation/

Students who are not in the catchment and looking to follow a school pathway at the time of transition from elementary to middle, and middle to secondary (Grades 5 and 8), will have to apply for a transfer request. Non-catchment students no longer automatically follow the current school pathway.

In the event, a school receives more transfer requests by grade than the number of seats it can accommodate, the waitlist order of transfer requests will be determined by lottery in accordance with our student enrolment priorities. As a result, there is no advantage to submitting an application first, it is recommended parents/guardians submit the requests at their earliest convenience during the communicated dates.

New grade 1 – 12 students who wish to enrol in the District for the September 2018 school year are also encouraged to register between February 15—23, 2018.

The deadline to submit a request or application is on Friday, February 23 at 3 p.m.
